Me and my birthday crisp!

I was back to work this week after my luxurious week off at home. The concluding event was a tea party I threw to celebrate with my family. I finally had a second occasion to wear my flower girl dress! It had a lot to talk about with our tablecloth.

And, thanks to everyone who commented on the birthday giveaway! I’m excited to announce the winners of the shibori giveaway!

Peach habotai scarf: Shivani

Magenta charmeuse yardage: *WISHER*

Blue/coral charmeuse yardage: Gingermakes

Congratulations to the winners! Please email me at morganelle [at] gmail [dot] com with your mailing information and I will send out the shibori!

On another topic, I’m getting pretty excited about Me-Made-May 2013. I’m having fun thinking about Zoe’s “Points to consider” section, about how Me-Made-May is supposed to take you out of your comfort zone in a creative way. I’m not quite sure what that means for me yet; I’ve done it twice now and both times it’s been truly challenging to wear stuff I’ve made every day without too many repeats. I donate clothes that don’t get worn so even after 3-4 years of sewing my self-made wardrobe isn’t huge. Once I figure out the direction I want to talk (which could end up being the same as previous years), I will post it here.

For those of you who plan on participating, are you thinking about mixing it up this year?

  1. Oh, wow, thank you so much! I’m so thrilled and lucky to be a winner!

I’m glad you’re doing MMM13! Your posts were some of my favorite last year! I signed up to wear me-made clothes every day, when last year I only did three days a week (and I still found myself wearing the same four tops over and over!). I’m hoping that making a conscious effort to wear handmade clothing will energize me to be creative in the way I dress and that it will help me to find out what I need to make to have a wearable, handmade everyday wardrobe.

    1. I like that idea, wearing what you’ve made in an effort to dress more creatively! I also found that MMM is a really good test to figure out which garments are working and which aren’t.

  2. I am planning on participating for the first time. My wardrobe is pretty minimalist & mostly thrifted, self-made clothes are increasing in number but still few. I might go for just a few days of the week planning to increase it for next year. Good luck with whatever you decide! & what a lovely cheerful photo with your birthday crisp. I hope you enjoyed your week off!

  3. I’m doing MMM again too… but I wear me-mades all the time, so like you, I’m trying to figure out how to shake it up. I could just go for doubles a few days a week, but I’d like something more creative…

  4. ooo thank you! I’ll send you an email with my details – so excited to win such a beautiful scarf!

I haven’t committed to MMM13 yet – I think I probably will, but I just need to work on what my challenge will be. Last year, it was to wear at least me-made garment three times a week – but I now do that anyway.

  5. Congrats to he winners! Can I just say I love your flower girl dress? That is, hands down, my favourite Amy Butler print. As for MMM, sadly I won’t take part. We’re moving across Canada again in May and between packing and camping our way across the country MMM will be a bit too challenging.

    1. Thank you! I love that fabric too, I think it’s a bit more modern than most of her other designs. Good luck with your move – the camping sounds pretty exciting!
