First off, check out the sweet new header that Bee made for us! I love it! We keep on meaning to do a full blog re-design but other projects always seem more pressing.
Like making a last-minute dress for a wedding this weekend… yes, I succumbed to internal pressure and am putting the finishing touches on my dress tonight. I’ll have a full write-up sometime in the next couple of weeks.
Last weekend was very hot for Seattle (I hesitate to say the temperature because it’s been so much hotter everywhere else). Nathan and I braved the heat and walked to brunch with his parents and my sister-in-law and encountered all kinds of delightful things, like this Calder sculpture…
…and these hanging planters along the train tracks! If you look really closely, you can see that there’s a black irrigation hose next to the rope that the planters are hanging on. A small water tank is at the end of the hose, stashed up in a tree.
In other garden news, we ended up making rice bowls with some of our non-lettuce. The green onions, kale chips and pickled carrots are all from our garden. Our broccoli has been a bust (the plants are gigantic but none of them has even shown a hint of floret), but just looking at my dinner last night was enough to feel like a Gardening Success.
