Hey, Seattleites!

I just saw that the Seattle Public Library system is hosting a series of urban self-reliance workshops! Courses include:

  • DIY Seismic Home Retrofitting
  • Introduction to Bike Commuting
  • Bicycle Maintenance
  • Simple Sewing
  • Keeping Chickens in the City
  • Hand Sewing: Repair DIY
  • Basic Canning/Jam Making
  • Make Your Place: Non-Toxic House Cleaners with Raleigh Briggs
  • Preserving for the Pantry with Amy Pennington
  • On the Wild Side at Green Lake: A Mushroom Hunt Primer
  • Hand Sewn Upcycle Without a Machine
  • Finding Edible Weeds in Your Garden and Lawn
  • Disaster Supply Kit

Almost all of them sound amazing to me (with the possible exception of Seismic Home Retrofitting.) And they’re free! For more information on times/dates/registration info, click here!
