In the last hours of Memorial Day, on a whim, I decided to make a sleeve for my laptop so I wouldn’t feel as fearful taking it with me. I had a simple envelope shape in mind, and here are the results!
I made it with leftover batting from my nephew’s quilt and fabric from a couple of other projects. It was simple; a rectangle piece sewed to to a house-shaped piece, with a snap added.
I learned that laptops, unlike bodies, need almost no ease. I added an extra inch to both dimensions and could immediately tell that it wasn’t needed. I just accommodated for the depth of the laptop and that was that! A perfect-fitting sleeve and a great way to get rid of some fabric scraps.
In other news, Me-Made-May 2012 is drawing to a close! Daily outfit documentation has felt like a real undertaking but somehow, this month has flown. As Modest Mouse says, the years go fast but the days go so slow.

Nice work! I like the color a lot!
oh, it's lovely! makes me regret having bought an ugly black neoprene thing a few years ago. I'm very glad to have found your blog via MMM!I did not know that Modes Mouse line, but oh dear, it is SO true!
Thanks, Ginger!
Hi Chrrristine! So nice to see you here. It's never too late to make your own cover and donate your neoprene! The Modest Mouse line is from the song Heart Cooks Brain, very worth a listen if you haven't already heard it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYk57xAE9k0
Hi, I just got myself a new laptop yesterday and wondered whether you would mind if I used your idea???
I would be very flattered! And I want to see how it turns out!
